A former Atlanta cop, Agent Michalik came to LA to become a screenwriter, after 11 years in law enforcement. She really wants to put away the bad guys and finds protections for the accused most frustrating. For the writers in the audience, there was a certain piquancy in her raw expression of her frustration with the restrictions that she and most law enforcement have to deal with, causing them, she says, to drop or not file cases because of a combination of bureacratic obstruction and low law enforcement staffing.
